Mia’s getting her Max & Ruby
In Hannah’s room when she was little (Please she’s only 4 now… okay.. sorry.. keep reading) we made a couple of plywood cutouts of the characters from Maisy (for those of you that don’t have kids.. Umm.. Sorry.. Might wanna just skip this post…) and hung them on her walls… For a little over 10 bucks + time/paint she was sooo happy about those things.. (Which are still on her walls right now..)
Well, last week Mia mentioned that she wanted to have Max & Ruby and being a good dad, I just had to give in to this request… So.. I went out to Home Depot, picked up some 1/4 inch plywood and finally today Sara and I got started on making her Max & Ruby.
Oh and I had to add Wow Wow Wubbzy and Waldon as well.. (I Love Wow wow Wubbzy.. but ..)
So, how do we do it? Well here are a couple of pics of a ‘work in progress’
PLEASE NOTE: (My lawyers have suggested that I enter this clause in here for my own protection. These items that I am about to show you are copies of copywritten characters and are only used for personal use. I do not, at anytime, sell, reproduce, copy, merge, macrame, fingerpaint any of these characters for financial gain. This is only for the pure gain of ‘Dad is awesome’ points. Certain restrictions apply.. The employees of Ed’s house are not eligible for this drawing.. Your miles may vary.. To get a full list of why I shouldn’t be able to do this, please contact the respective companies directly (I think Viacom) or just call the RIAA and they’ll try to sue me for some reason I haven’t thought of yet..)
Okay.. WheW! With that said, let’s try to at least have a little fun without wearing a helmet.
We start with the plywood.. I buy pre-cut 2×4 sections of sanded plywood from Home Depot
(Lookie! It’s Plywood — Wow! Plywood… lol)
Then you need to trace the pattern onto your plywood.. I like to use the projector from my home theatre…

(Look it’s Sara tracing Wubbzy! WoW!)
Then I cut them out with a Jig-Saw (Enter crazy dancing here… Umm.. JIG-saw.. Hello?? Oh.. BOther)
(There’s Wubbzy, Waldon, Max & Ruby)
Then add a little prime coat of white paint…
Then distract the girls a little bit with some white paint of their own….
And then start to paint them… Depending on the ‘complexity’ of the paint job.. It usually only takes a couple of hours (4-6) to finish them up…
(Wubbzy just hanging around and waiting to dry)

(Waldon and Max.. First Coats..)
Ewww.. I can’t wait until they’re finished!!! I’ll keep you all updated!
